A broad range of organizations and institutions can affect tobacco use cessation through support for and implementation of public and private policies. A genuine commitment across several communities including employers, insurers, and the federal and state governments is necessary to put into practice the policies and treatments that offer smokers the best hope of quitting.

Ultimately, many must work together to achieve these policies to ensure smokers make successful quit attempts in supportive environments, with barrier-free access to effective treatments. With action on many fronts and unprecedented cooperation, our nation can help its smokers quit.
